as

So far: There never was dicks as

I'm late, but everyone's being crap so I'm sure I'm excused.
Was up the big town with my dad and family.

Saw National Landscape Photographer of the Year.
Walked from Tate Britain to London Bridge.
Went into the Scoop.
Saw Dreams of a Life at Picturehouse in Brixton.
Went to the Saatchi Gallery and V&A.
Saw Stones in his Pockets at the Tricyle Theatre in Brixton.
Wandered through Hyde Park and Kensington Park.

S'ALL LOVELY.
Tomorrow is New Years Eve at Will's.
I now realise I left my most awesomest formal dress in Edinburgh, and have bought a sub-par one back with me.
I have no good photos of the dress, but that's me, Harry and Dickie at the bar and me wearing it.

I left my phone charger in Edinburgh.

dicks

IT'S CHRISTMAS.

Nah, I lied and cheated really but there you go, this still says it's a christmas day blog and what more could you possibly want?

So Christmas songs, here is a selection of cool ones by bands I like:

Beans On Toast – Christmas At Tesco

Frank Turner – Last Christmas (Also look at Ben's little face :3)

Frightened Rabbit – It’s Christmas So We’ll Stop

And finally the answer to my challenge of last week. I think that probably my favourite Christmas song of all time is this version of Christmas Is Awesome originally by Reuben but this cover is much much better.
Frank Turner – Christmas Is Awesome

I will leave you with the news that skiing was good but exhausting. I haven't had a proper nights sleep for like 10 days in a row now so yeah, sleeping in a sec is going to be SWEET.

Love you guys and hope that you all had a very merry Christmas. I can't wait to see you all super soon.

was

You people suck.
Had my last exams, caught a train to Newcastle to see family, drove to Swindon.
Arrived into the new house a couple of minutes ago. Nae bad actually.
So yeah.
Very very drunk on Monday. Was lovely.
A few of the Glasgow lot came over.

We were in Teviot from lunch till dinner. Went back to the other flat. Drank there until 1ish? We were all supposed to go to Hive, but me and Georgie got over-excited and ditched everyone on the way, went in for one drink and decided it was shit so went to Jazz Bar instead. They played Cha Cha Slide in the Hive. CHA CHA SLIDE.

And, I dunno about favourite Christmas song.
Step Into Christmas by Elton John made me very happy when Ollie played it a week ago, so I'm gonna say that one.

Other than the ridiculous amounts of revision, the last few weeks have Uni have been beautiful.
Went out for some lovely meals with the Fat Man, went on the chair swings at the Princes Street Christmas fair thingy, saw Calton Hill at night, watched How to Train Your Dragon and Elf, bought and decorated a real Christmas tree, swapped Christmas jumpers with the flatmates.

A lovely beginning to second year, can't wait to see everyone soon.
BACK IN SWINDON NOW, YES?

That's me and Owen and the Christmas tree.

Sunday, 18 December 2011

I can't see the previous post titles so discount this in the whole story thing.

Fuck fuck shitting fuck balls. I nearly forgot it was Sunday.

Today was my first day skiing. I'm quite drunk now. Shit.

I'm sorry this is a poor blog but here is my challenge for you all:
What is your favourite Christmas song ever?

This time next week it will be Christmas, that's pretty cool. I will of course continue normal blogging.

Love you.

never

I like your thinking David.

Well, had my first exam on Monday. Have my next exam on Saturday, another on Monday then FREE.
Was in the library from 9ish till 3ish and was nice and productive.
Pretty much finished making notes of my lectures. (Just dick, fanny and babies left. Yay, physiology.) And then, just have to actually learn them.
Should be alright.

Hm. Not sure about best Christmas present ever, I can't really remember many.
Was lacking in Christmas spirit until the other day when Ollie started pumping the Elton John - Step into Christmas and me, Ollie, Pete and Richard had a spontaneous Christmas disco in the living room.
I've lost heart with my advent calender, I'm about ten days behind on my chocolates.
It is Captain America though. (I wanted the one with the ponies but Richard wouldn't let me.)

It's gonna be nice to go home.
I love it here, but revision is boring.
I went out and got all drunk on Monday for Sarah's birthday, but it wasn't the same as I had to be responsible and go home early so I could revise in the morning. (Although didn't get out of bed till lunchtime.)
Sarah's birthday was pretty epic, about twenty of us went out for a meal and Zulfi bought champagne for the lot of us. Then we pubbed with the MuSoc (Music Society) lot. Of which I am an honorary / drinking member.

Here's a photo, as last weeks challenge made me realise I like photos.

Essentially just the most recent photo I was tagged in.
That's Rosalind's birthday party where me and Mike climbed into her storage boxes.
It looked cooler when the lids were on, but no one took a good photo of it.

There

So..... how is everyone?

My week has been fairly uneventful really! I went christmas shopping on wednesday which was good but stressful as shit because london is an awful place. My secret santa is totally sorted though ;). APART FROM THAT I've had a lot of christmas concerts with choir and stuff which is always fun and I've done my lab report and assessed problem sheet and am about 700 words into my 2500 word essay so everything's coming up milhouse if i'm honest with you guys.

On saturday we had a christmas gathering come house party and red wine was spilt all over one of our sofas but apart from that everything went pretty well but also i drank so much it was stupid, I got told off for putting bright eyes' christmas album on instead of cheery christmas music....

AND YEAH apart from that I'm just desperately trying to plow through this essay so I can start not working. It's about dark matter though which is pretty good.

So you all performed excellently at the housemates challenge, though will went above and beyond, here are my housemates:

This is Joe, he does maths and also really likes video games and is generally a stand up guy

This is Denis, he does physics with me and wasn't going to live with us originally but when henry (who we don't like) pulled out he was like hey i'll live with you and we were like COOL. Also he is pretty much the smartest guy I know.

This is chris, he does materials and we bully him for it, he is by far the nicest person I've met at imperial but that can sometimes be infuriating because he likes EVERYONE, apart from that he's great and also he likes nintendo.

I chose pictures with me in so you could have a frame of reference. Also these are some of my other friends from uni because juliet also showed other friends from uni and I don't want to look unpopular

This is marie nathan markos ali pria denis brendan henry suj adam me hannah chris joe and jon.

Now as for the second challenge, over my life I've had a lot of pretty brilliant christmas presents but I reckon my best one ever was my first ever guitar which looked like this:
It's a yamaha pacifica and it was pretty much the best thing i'd ever owned at the time, though now it feels heavy to play..

YEAH that's all I've really got for you this week guys, I'm excited to see everyone so much though Will why are you such a let down?

ALSO I think we should try and play the one word story game with our blog titles, 321go

Am I doing any work? Am I fuck.

I am filled with Christmas cheer you guys.

My week has been alright. As I mentioned last week I had far too many lectures going on. The 7 hour days without breaks really were as bad as I had expected. I didn’t even get to eat any lunch!

But yeah, medic’s ball was on Thursday night and that was pretty cool. I like wearing a suit. My friend Alex got really drunk and was just hilarious. Also David, I talked to your cousin for a bit, she seemed nice.

My parents came to visit yesterday and that was nice. We had lunch and hot chocolate and just walked around Bristol a bit.

Today I had Christmas lunch with all of my floor from halls last year which was really nice. I haven’t seen much of them this year so it was good to catch up and stuff.

Right so that was my week, now onto the challenges.
I’ll start with David’s, I can’t really find a picture with all of us together. my original plan had been to find hilarious ones of everyone but that proved a lot more effort than I thought, these are the best I could do.

Andrew – He does maths and comes from London, I am going skiing with him in a week. He is very tall.

Kate – She is learning to be a vet (boo) and also comes from London, just down the road from Beans on Toast’s pub. She is one of the few people I live with who likes good music.

Ellen – Ellen is doing combined maths and French, she runs all the time and does loads of good stuff for Amnesty International and generally makes me feel like I am wasting my life by not doing as many good things as she does.

Dan – He is from Manchester and does French and Spanish. We make fun of his accent quite a lot. He plays cricket and football and is far better than me at both. He is the inventor of the best dance ever, as shown by this picture.

Andy – he is also a vet and he lives in Worcestershire. He always beats me at FIFA.

Phil – He does Geography which I am lead to believe is just glorified colouring in. He comes from Cardiff and in this picture he is dressed as Mad Eye Moody which is pretty awesome.

Ro – She comes from Hereford and studies Biology. She watches Hollyoaks a lot but makes a cracking cup of tea which is good.

That is some top quality blog formatting if I do say so myself. So yeah, those are my housemates. Next year I will be living with Ro, Andy, Andrew and Kate for definite plus maybe Phil and maybe another girl called Rachel who was in our halls last year. Ellen and Dan are both doing years abroad for their languages. We are going to look at some houses tomorrow afternoon. One has a hot tub, waaaaat.

Next onto Josh’s challenge, I would have to say my favourite Christmas present ever would be my Cosy CoupĂ©. I got it when I was about 5 I guess and got so many hours of entertainment out of it. Basically if you didn’t have this toy, your parents didn’t love you.

So I did have a challenge of my own this week but with so many other ones flying around right now I will leave I until next week instead. I will be in Austria this time next week but I will try my best to find a computer at some point on the Sunday. If not I can always use my phone, so yeah, shouldn’t be a problem.

Enjoy your last week of term everyone!

Friday, 9 December 2011

Oh, I do love to be beside the seaside

But now I'm getting bored and I can't wait to come home and see all you loverly people.

First things first, this blog comes (as usual) with a couple of apologies.
1) I'm sorry I didn't blog for the past couple of weeks, for one of them I think I was terribly hungover and for the other I have no excuse
2) Today isn't my blog day but yesterday the internet was down for some inexplicable reason and the guy's just been and gone to fix it, so I'm sorry this is late.
Better late than never, right?

Anyway, ONWARDS!

This week was crazy busy, I've had three hand ins this week which have all had me racking my brains but also taking a little bit of pride and excitement in being vaguely academic and I'm just getting started on next week's essay which is a stonker and a lot of fun. The last few weeks I've been throwing myself into my course since a moment of drunken enlightenment on a bench when a little voice came to me saying 'You are doing a degree, get it together'. I guess (or at least hope) it happens to us all.

Lat night I went out to dinner with Lily for Christmas/Anniversary which was sweet. We dressed up and pretended to be all that then went and got a meal deal like the student low-lifes we are. Problem was, I ate so fucking much pizza I couldn't handle pudding and the waiter told us if we didn't order desserts then our meal deal would be void and we would have to pay more. Still it turned out okay cause right now there's a box of profiteroles sitting next to me just calling out. I think they're talking Hebrew, which is weird cause I thought they were French.

Its getting to the end of term now, everybody is out of money and burdened by work they didn't do sooner and there's this lovely sense of solidarity in the library when you hear 'Hey man, how's it going?'
'Ugggh, okay....'
'Yeah, I hear that brother.'
Still it doesn't bother me cause I'll be on the train home soon and ready to take on Christmas with all my will and cheer. I'm really looking forward to Christmas now since our house's Christmas dinner the other night and I especially can't wait to be singing at Wacky Wednesdays, kicking back with you guys and partying at Will's like it's two-thousand-and-twelve.

Speaking of our Christmas dinner, here's a picture of me and my housemates waiting for the turkey to cook:

From left to right: Luke, Umar, Anais, me, Faye and Will. What a lovely bunch of people.

I guess that's David's challenge done, nice one by the way David

And while I'm doing photos here's a picture taken from just around the corner to make you guys all jelly and ice cream:

Juliet, in response to your blog title, there's nothing wrong with getting a little bit upset over something that is worth getting upset over: famine, war, petty theft, governments screwing students and pensioners etc. etc.

So I now propose my challenge, as Will has pointed out it's long overdue. Now I think about it, it's less of a challenge and more of a question; my question is this:
What was your best Christmas present ever and why?

Were there any more challenges? If there were then I've totally forgotten them, you should consider me a failure.

I think that's about it, rock on mongooses and keep the blog going (props to Will for being so consistent all this time and for also being consistently awesome).

Love to your mothers.

Oh, PS. I deactivated my Facebook account a few days ago, it's not because I hate you guys or anything like that (far from it), it's just I've found myself going on it every ten minutes recently and it's really starting to piss me off so I thought I'd go cold-turkey for a while and focus on these end of term struggles. All well and good, I'll reactivate it again when the holidays come - nothing is permanent.

EDIT! I just read this again, it's formal as fuck, I think it was a rush. Kind of just bullet points of whatever came out my mind, I need to get more dynamic blogs going so I'll tell you this, even though I'm one and a half - maybe two bottles of wines down the road, whatever you guys propose I blog about next week I'll do it, gimmie something. Could be funny or dark or something that requires more than lunch time. Lets make this precious. That took way too long to type.

EDIT! I don't remember writing any of that shit. Does that mean it still counts? Still, it was surprisingly well spelt.

Love to all your mothers, even the ugly ones, you know whose they are!

If the news makes you sad don't watch it.

Is a song by the band Broken Records.
Who I saw yesterday.
Very very very lovely. :D
Went with Chris Ward and his friend.
Chris Ward, incidentally has been up for the last three days or so. So, three very nice but unproductive days.

We cooked our flats the biggest feast on Monday night. I think Chris took a picture, so I shall share when that turns up.

But yeah, still in the middle of revision. Still doing very little.
I got out of bed half an hour ago.

Here's a photo.
You've already met... actually only one of my flatmates. Although you've met a fair few of my friends.
We took this on one of the last days of first year: Juan, Zulfi, Georgie, Rebecca Tessa Lomax, Me, Suzannah, Sarah, Owen, Pete, Gavin, Richard and Ollie.

It's hard to find a group one of the flat, someone's always away. But exclude Suzannah and that's all of us.
Owen, Ollie, Richard and me.
We're just too cute.

Ollie's in Perth until the weekend and he's gonna cut us down a Christmas tree for the flat.
I like my flat.

Here's another one.
That one was taken in Freshers with, Brogan, Becca, Richard, Ollie, Owen, Pete and me.

And just because Harry's yet to be in any of these.
Harry, Owen, me, Ollie.

So I didn't blog.... again.....

I'm so sleepy guys but I said i'd blog and god damn it i'ma blog
Inconsistent capitalization is an important feature of sleepy blogs

My weeks have been good but really dull, I'm so behind on work and I keep not doing any which is really stupid, also I have an assessed problem sheet, a lab report and a 3000 word essay all due in by the end of term which is soon, then revision starts for my january exam :(
I did go to a secret comedy gig this weekend and I saw rich hall for £5 which was awesome.

I'VE OBSERVED SOMETHING YOU GUYS, everyone (myself included) seems to have got someone really 'easy' for their secret santa, I think some meddling's been going on.

I'm too sleepy to blog better and I don't think I have any challenges so I'ma issue one, I want to see pictures of your housemates, either take some pictures and upload them or find good ones on facebook but I want to know who they are.

Sorry I blog bad, good blog next week I swearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

This title bears no relation to the contents of the blog

Guys, it’s been a disappointing week of blogging. We were doing so well for the last month or so. In fact, November was the best month of blogs since February 2010. Let’s make December awesome too?

I had a 3 day week last week. Well, I had stuff on everyday but I decided that Monday and Friday just weren’t worth the effort so yeah, that’s been nice.  This week coming up more than makes up for it though, Tuesday I have stuff from 9-4 with absolutely no break and Friday I have 9-5 with no break. Damn these lunch time lectures.

I started learning about the gastrointestinal system this week which, it is shit (pun most definitely intended). Who knew that there were so many cell types with complex mechanisms for secretion digestivey type stuff? Certainly not me.

So we got our secret Santa people this week, I think I have got quite an easy person, but as of yet I don’t know what to get them. I will turn my mind to it next week. Are you guys all doing it? Are you happy with the person you have?

I am also doing reddit secret Santa. These days reddit is an awesome thing, it helps to remember that there are nice people in the world still. Did any of you see the Love for Lucas thing the other day? It was so lovely. Anyway, I have decided to get my reddit secret Santa person a Troy and Abed in the Morning mug because they say they love Community, the mug came on Monday but it was smashed to fuck which sucked, they’re sending me a new one though and I am going to try and glue the broken one together and then keep it for myself, win fucking win.

On Saturday afternoon I hung out with Kerry for a bit. We went to Forbidden Planet and they sell really authentic looking wands for pretty much every character imaginable from Harry Potter. We also had hot chocolate which was lovely. The pantomime at the Hippodrome this year is Peter Pan, guess who Captain Hook is played by:

I made a list of all the bands I had seen this year because I thought it might make and interesting blog topic. Turns out a big list of bands is actually pretty boring, who’d have thunk it? I did work out that I had seen Jim lockey ± the Solemn Sun a total of 6 times this year and Ben Marwood 4 times. I don’t know, but I think that means I’m doing it right.

Oh, also tonight I watched the first Black Mirror thing on channel 4.Charlie Brooker produced it and it was actually quite funny, also very odd. If you have a spare hour this week it might be worth a watch.

Josh you said you had a Christmassy challenge in mind? Is it close enough to Christmas to do it yet? I also have quite a good Christmas challenge which I will set you all next week if I remember.
David, I saw this the other day and thought you might like it because it is kind of science and singing. You may already have seen it though:

Juliet, fuck Scotland.

NIGHT

Wednesday, 30 November 2011

Receptors. Control centres of the cardiovascular system. Cardiovascular reflexes. Haemorrhage.

I'm revising.
I know it's early in the morning, so I don't really have anything so say but I'm in a malaise so blogging seems preferable to working.

I'm wearing my glasses.
Turns out my eyes have got a fuck ton worse. After revising all day with them on I took them off and literally was unable to see what people were saying to me on Facebook.
I'm gonna pretend that was because I was tired. Not because I'm blind.

BUT YEAH. One good thing about revising - the amount of music I get to catch up on.
So evidently I need some recommendations.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN LISTENING TO AND WHAT SHOULD I BE LISTENING TO?
It'll have to wait until December as I've used up all my Spotify hours, but that's like - tomorrow. Fuck.
I actually have 9 minutes left, but I'm saving that for the points in which my revision melancholy gets too much that there's nothing left for me other than repetitive listening to I Want the World to Stop (Belle and Sebastian. Good song.)

SO. Life.
I've realised why my blogs are so boring, I tend to have all my fun on Thursdays which I then forget about by the following Wednesday.

WAIT A SECOND
I saw Frank Turner on Friday. And you see! Totally forgot to tell you about that.
Saw him at the Barrowlands in Glasgow, then got back to Edinburgh a little overexcited and ended up going to the Hive until it closed.
Brought Georgie, Sarah, Rosalind, Richard, Pete and Owen along with me. And they all loved it! Which is a great success as Georgie was the only one who actually listens to him, and she only owns Love Ire and Song. But yay.
Although it was only me, Sarah and Georgie that went to Hive. Which is difficult as Hive is a creepy place, and I am no longer in a position to be creeped. We essentially formed an impenetrable huddle, within which we danced, drunk and were merry. (Lots of dancing, as we were in the second room which always plays 'alternative anthems' and sometimes you just really are in the mood for Blink 182.)

Got my secret santa name yesterday, and frankly - too easy. Bitch gon' be pleased.

(When I drink tea my glasses steam up. Who knew?)

UPDATTE
My flatmates ate cooking lasagne so I reckon tonight is gonna be right awesome.
sincxe last we spoke i decided too sack the rest of today and went to my friends art exhibition and enjoyed the free alcohol. now i am going tio eat lasagne and go out.
today i got some really good news. I shall tell you in person and no on internet,.
But believe me. this news is good and shall excuse the drinking in the afternoon.
:D
HPPY ST ANDREWS DAY
HIVE HIVE HIVE (is where I'm at tonight)

Sunday, 27 November 2011

I had a crazy dream that I weighed less than a thousandth of a gram. I was like, 0mg!

This afternoon at my computer sitting
Learning the tests for oedema pitting
I think to myself what could be more fitting
Than preparing a poem for next Sunday’s blog

It’s Tuesday right now but I don’t mind admitting
That by Sunday evening at the time of submitting
I’ll be so exhausted from all the streets I’ve been hitting
That when I get in I will sleep like a log

You see most of the weekend I will be transmitting
Myself along train lines for visits quite flitting
From Pewsey to Warwick I will be visiting
Friends and family and of course, my dog

On Thursday night at a show most befitting
I’ll be seeing some friends and most likely sipping
Far too much beer and then contemplate quitting
Drinking so much that I feel sick as a dog

I’ll then travel back westwards for lectures unremitting
Where I’ll sit in dark classrooms and think of resitting
As so much I should know, from my brain is omitting
and the notes I’ve not read form a massive backlog

When Sunday arrives I will be committing
My time to my great aunt, traffic permitting
As I travel up north for a visit quite flitting
For a family gathering in the Warwickshire fog

You may be wondering why I have chosen such an odd rhyme scheme or why some of the rhymes are so shit, my answer is because fuck you, that’s why.

SO NOW IT’S SUNDAY.

I’m going to see Billy Bragg tomorrow, you jelly David?

Anyway, my weekend was beautiful and seeing people was the best.Ben Marwood is a nice guy and David’s was lovely, I am sleepy now.
Love you guys.

Wednesday, 23 November 2011

You guys write lots.

Blah. Now I feel obliged to respond.

But. So. Lazy.

Switzerland was amazing.
Arrived on Friday morning, me and Krissy drank solidly from lunch till whenever we went home, on the way befriended a gang of Swiss students in an Irish Bar who took us to an anarchist bar. (Apparently anarchy in Switzerland means getting high indoors.) Which was actually pretty cool.
Krissy was pretty mortal and in the taxi back kept giving her Cardiff address, so after a while he got pissed off and chucked us out so we wandered round Geneva for a long while with no idea where we were, but somehow with another taxi and some very dodgy French we got home.

Saturday we were too hungover to move.

Sunday we enjoyed Geneva.
I saw the world's longest bench and the world's tallest fountain.

Monday I went to CERN and learnt SCIENCE.
Was actually really awesome, I learnt all the things and bought a physics book in the gift shop.
Then I bought some Toblerone and flew home.

Has been quiet recently. It's my last week of lectures and I've kinda lost the momentum for going out.
Frank Turner on Friday though. Woo.

AND SHUDDUP WILL. Scotland is lovely.
I was sat in front of a guy on the plane who kept bitching about Edinburgh, and I was thinking ffs, this is a flight TO Edinburgh, assume most of the people on this flight are either from or going there.

And, it has been an easier timetable than last year. I have nine lectures a week, one or two practicals a week and that's about it really.
Have done so little work revision will quite possibly kill me.
So, this may be the last you hear from me.
AU REVOIR.

(Though actually in Geneva everyone says 'ciao'.)

OH. And I watched Die Hard yesterday.

Monday, 21 November 2011

This could easily be the best blog I've ever written

You know what guys? I miss msn.
Back in the day you would log onto msn and talk to all your friends and granted a conversation wouldn't go much further than

hi
hey
you ok? yeah you?
i'm good what you been up to?
not much you?
not much haha

but you used to have a nice little 5 minute conversation with everyone about their day, nowadays we have facebook chat which is bollocks and not the same in any way BAH.
So yeah, I've decided that as of today I'm going to facebook chat people more, bringing back the instant messaging communication just if I see people are online.

SO THIS WEEK on tuesday I went round the house of all our other friends from halls and we played skyrim (which is beautiful) and then the girls came down and we watched mamamia which I ruined for everybody and then love actually which I know is far to early but OH MY GOD YOU GUYS CHRISTMAS :D:D:D. And then I was like ok I think I'ma go home now but then my housemate was like oh I just turned 20 and we were like OH SHIT and got really drunk instead of going home and I missed my tutorial on wednesday. THEN on wednesday we went to the medic sports night rag centurian and I was once again a centurian but also all the sports teams had a fresher go on stage and be abused and It's too long a story but it was awful, one guy had to eat 10 boiled eggs soaked in gin! On thursday I went to a choir concert cause I couldn't sing cause I missed all the rehersals due to my appendix. ALSO ON THURSDAY MY PHONE BROKE AND I GOT THIS INSTEAD.

I know rite? It's terribad. On friday I went to a houseparty and saw some people i don't see very often and there are pictures on facebook. This weekend I went to canterbury (again I know i'm a fiend) and I saw jonny and his little sister was visiting and we played ring of fire and arrogance and she was sick everywhere. ALSO i painted a rubber duck :)

Will UBRUB sounds so awesome! I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get the chance to come to your uni this term but give me a date next term and I'll come be on your team I swear :D, in answer to your question from last week I decided although it's obvious this is certainly the best comedy sketch ever

I'm not ben marwooding (SIGHH) but I am back late friday evening PARTY AT MY HOUSE.

Juliet I don't have that much to say to you but I hope you're having fun and if you went to newcastle WHY DIDN'T YOU MAKE CATH BLOG?

Speaking of Cath she's sent me her email and I'ma add her to the blog (again)

Josh I enjoyed your blog and your bonfire night sounds badass, I like the pictures of where you went and stuff. Also my appendix is good FANKS :)

I think I have other things to say but this blog is already far too long, I also don't have any pictures I'm sorry

Love David

I couldn't find any funny pictures this week

I watched Airplane with my housemates last night, I’m so glad that film exists.

You guys, I think I have found the perfect society to join. Well technically it isn’t a society because it isn’t allowed to be supported by the union. It is called UBRUB which stands for Urban Beverage Racing University of Bristol I believe. They organise races were you are tied by the wrists in teams of three and have to race between the bars and drink the allotted drinks at each place. Our team did not do particularly well, we weren’t allowed out of the first bar for ages because the next race people blocked the door. We still managed to get through the 7 bars in about 40 minutes which wasn’t too bad a time. In all honesty, the actually running part was a bit of an ordeal, I am horribly unfit and it was actually quite a long run. I was particularly struggling after strawpedoing half a bottle of wine and then having to do a solid 10 minute jog to the next bar, I managed to keep it all down which is more than can be said for a lot of the other competitors including my teammate Andy who managed to spray the toilet of the last bar with bright red vomit. Maybe you can come visit next time there is a race on and we can enter a team.

I had my second hospital placement all last week. I really enjoyed it again, actually getting to see patients is so much better than lectures. All the UBRUBing took place on Thursday night so I felt less than fresh having to go to the hospital on Friday to give my patient presentation to some big fancy consultant. Luckily he asked me a load of questions on Cushing’s syndrome and I happened to have seen a patient with that the day before so I came up with a load of fancy pants answers about it and it all went well.

But that’s enough about me, lets talk about you.
David, I’m glad you’re looking into the bone marrow thing, I can’t say enough how good it is to do, the rest of you, I would love it if you could look into it too. Also, are you Ben Marwooding? And if not are you at least back for the weekend?
Juliet, I agree with David, you seem to have very few lectures. Or do you just not go to lots of them? Also fuck Scotland.
Josh, you’re fireworks night sounds excellent, much more successful than mine where we ended up having to stand in the road outside the display because we got there too late. In responses to your organ removal question, everything inside you can all just squish about a bit anyway so the gap just get filled by all the other stuff inside you spreading out a bit, also your appendix is pretty damn tiny so it doesn’t leave much of a gap. I am also glad that you have a Will ladder, I sure hope I am near the top. Finally, hi housemate Will, congratulations on having such an excellent name.

So I’ll be home next week on Thursday for Ben Marwood but then I am going to have to go back to Bristol for Friday things and then come back to Swindon/home again in the evening. I am then going to see all my extended family on Sunday near Leicester somewhere and then try and get back to Bristol on time for Monday lectures. All in all a busy weekend but hopefully it will involve seeing some kittens which will be lovely, I can’t wait.

I finished Modern Warfare 3 this week as well. I was really rather disappointed by the story this time. The levels were really beautiful and the graphics were exceptional but the story just wasn’t as good as previous ones. Having said that, I was pretty darn sad at one point, I won’t spoil it for any of you that want to play it, but you’ll know when you get there.

Finally I ordered Frank Turner’s second 3 years CD. It should come on Monday and I look forward to it greatly, I already have quite a few of the songs but there are also some new covers and b sides that I haven’t so that’ll be exciting.

I hate titles, and they hate me, it's a good thing we've got going on so lets not ruin it.

I really feel that at half 2 I should have gotten over this terrible hangover which is imparing my every move today, I have to go to uni in an hour and I don't think I can make it to the bus stop but we'll see.

Basically, because my mind can't function I can't think of anything to write right now so I'll tell you what I'll do: I'll take a pad to my lecture and write ideas while blocking out the harsh Cornish tones of my lecturer's waffle then edit when I get back.

HAHA! Housemate Will (Yes, Will I do call him that to his face so as to make sure he knows where he stands on the Will-ladder) just came downstairs drunk wearing just his boxers and a sailors hat and now he won't get off the sofa even though I've told him a million times it's making me uncomfortable. IT'S HALF 2 IN THE FREAKING AFTERNOON!!

Alright everyone, Housemate Will says hi. He says he expects you to all say hello back to him this week in your blog. Well, it's a challenge I guess.

EDIT!

So I'm in my lecture, it's hard to concentrate with a laptop in front of you. I was going to write down lots of ideas for y'all but instead, I drew a picture of my lecturer vomiting words. I feel today has been productive.

Will, I saw the same company name on an escalator in Gatwick this summer.

I played open mic last night with a friend which was fun and then found a house party up the road from mine. Some guy came up to me and was whispering in my ear about a pet pig he had when he was little and how it died and his Dad fed it to him as bacon and now he can’t look at pigs anymore. I didn’t know if it was true or why he decided to introduce himself like that but I basically couldn’t stop laughing at him and he got upset and punched me in the ear so I poured him a drink and then he seemed alright. It was pretty edgy for a moment though, I saw fire in his eyes.

David, how’s the gap where your appendix was going? I was actually wondering about that Will, when doctors take out kidneys and appendixes/appendi and other various parts of you you don’t necessarily need, what do they do with the wasted space, does you just get thinner or… Actually, I’ve just realised that is perhaps the dumbest question I have ever asked in my life ever.

Juliet you're always cooking when you blog, which makes me really hungry every time I go on the blog.

It sounds like everybody had a pretty good week, I wish I could see people more but Falmouth being where it is, I am Cornwall-locked. Speaking of which, Ben Marwood next week - I can't go anymore :( Sorry guys, I was going to pull a couple of days off sick but I can't anymore cause I have to give an assessed presentation on the Friday so missing it would affect my grade. Still though, it's really not that long any more until Christmas. That gives me an idea for a challenge, I'll give it to you guys next week cause it seems too early to be setting Christmas-based challenges.

In response to yours Will, I really don't know at all. There's so much out there which I've found and loved and lost over the years but here's a video youtube suggested to me today which made me laugh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jL4-hOejHI&feature=feedrec_grec_index

Last week's blog didn't come cause I totally forgot cause I had loads of stuff to hand in on Thursday so since then has been a work free blast. The Sea Shanty festival was on which was really really sick, I can't even tell you, I got really drunk and sang along and stamped my feet and so on. Then there was the festival of lights in Truro which was nice too, lots of lights and people in wooly hats with hot chocolate. Which reminds me I didn't tell you about my bonfire night. We went to Pendenniss Point which looks a bit like this:

We went right onto the end of the point and had a massive bonfire and set off some fireworks and had a BBQ. It was really fun until someone stabbed themselves in the leg by accident with a penknife and we had to call an ambulance and there was a police response and they told us we were going to be fined £1000 for the bonfire so we all just ran away. I don't know if I should be putting this online but yeah, there was a lot of traversing of rocks in the dark trying to evade the police, but we're all fine free. Josh - 1, Cornwall County Council Law - 0!

I think that's about it, I'm gonna go cook some food now.

Love to your mothers.

Yo.

QUICK ONE BECAUSE WE'RE DOING A ROAST.
It's Harry's Birthday, (yesterday) so we're doing much cooking.
Today was my last piece of course work this year, ever. No more labs, tutorials, essays, reports. I'm excited.

And what are you talking about David, I haven't had a single reading week?
I started early and now I finish early-ish so we have time to do December exams.
I mean, if you wanna talk about doss courses, I mean Physics? Pah.

So last weekend I went to Cath's and it was amazing.
I like her friends they are good people.

On Friday I'm going to Switzerland. I'm excited.

I'll talk more next week. LOVE YOU GUYS.

I didn't even forget and Will thought I was gunna forget.

Hey how are you?
I'm fine thanks yeah.
Cool

My weeks been good, I didn't do much monday tuesday wednesday (I think I went out on monday but I can't say for sure) then I traveled back to london wednesday evening and saw my housemates and they were all pleasantly concerned about my wellbeing which was nice. On thursday I slept instead of going to lectures cause I'm an idiot and then on friday I went to my lectures and then went to Canterbury to see Kate, Canterbury is really nice you guys but also it was SO COLD all weekend i mean what the actual fuck. That night we weant to one of her many student bars called Mungos, it was in a halls and a lecture theatre which is weird but it was a cheesy music night which was fun, though my appendix hurt and I'm not good at dancing to cheesy music ESPECIALLY around people I have only met once before. The next day we went to see kate's pal Fae in a musical theatre showcase thing and she was a really good singer and it was good fun (though I did judge some of the singers a bit cause I'm a music snob) after that we went to a kitchen party and I got pretty drunk and had a good night though I did make enemys with some guys who were being all cunty to kate's german flatmate. Then on sunday we did a pub quiz and one of the rounds was on assassins and I fucking bossed it. After that we played pictionary and then went to kate's friend Sarah's room and had what they were calling a wiskey night which was awful but I got to play a nice ukulele so it was all good. Kate's friends are real nice which is cool, but Canterbury is really far from London.

Will I'm very impressed with your bone marrow thing, it's something I'm definitely going to look into when I get a chance to properly look at it. I hope being a doctor is going well this week and lungs arn't too gross.

Juliet why is your degree so dossy? I swear half of your term is study leave.

Josh, joshjoshjoshjosh

I don't know my favourite comedy I'm really sorry guys, I'll look hard over the next week and report back next time I swear.

Word to ma n words

Phew, just in time

I need to start carrying around an ideas notebook so I can write down things that I think about during the week that would be good for blogging; I fear this may make me look like an asshole though. This week I swear I thought of loads of interesting things to talk about but now I can’t for the life of me think what they are. Oh well, another boring blog it is.

I was sick for the first time in almost exactly one year on Monday night; I was very disappointed with myself. I also missed all of my things the next day because I thought vomiting on a cadaver would probably have been frowned upon.

Okay this is a bit serious but I signed up to be on the bone marrow register on Wednesday. You guys, it’s a really really good thing to do as finding matching donors is really rare and you will literally save someone’s life if you are a match. It’s also not nearly as bad as people seem to think. They usually take your bone marrow by using a dialysis type machine and just filter it out of your blood. To me it seems that for a few hours of your own discomfort you can completely save another person’s life and that is pretty great. Watch this video, it’s nice.

I saw Kerry, Matt, Jonny and Mima on Friday which was really cool. They went to see Bon Iver and I didn’t because tickets were so damn expensive. It was ok; they didn’t go on about it too much afterwards. We got drunk at Jo’s after and that was nice. On Saturday we went to Flavourz with a ‘z’. Matt ate an awful lot of food, it was impressive. We also looked at some shops and in House of Fraser I tried on the most expensive piece of clothing I have ever worn. It was a green and purple jacket thing with suede elbow patches and it was £400. The shop lady came over and tried to sell it to me, do I look like the kind of person who can buy £400 jackets? I hope I do.

This week I get to pretend to be a doctor again. This time we’re doing the respiratory system so lots of looking at lungs I guess. I am excited.

I would like to set you a challenge this week if that’s ok. I propose that you post your favourite piece of comedy, be it stand up or a sketch or whatever, just try and make everyone else laugh. To get you in the mood here is a very funny sketch from this week’s episode of Life’s Too Short. The rest of the program is not very good but this bit made me laugh a lot.

While we’re on the topic of Liam Neeson, look at the company that made the lifts in Jo’s halls at uni.

The End.
