Oh, rejection

First one came in today from Exeter, wonderful.

I'm really sorry about last weeks blog - some angry irrational boring child took over my account and posted in my stead. Someone had really annoyed me about my music taste calling me a snob for not liking lady gaga saying it was just because it was on the radio. I do like some stuff I hear on the radio, but personally the stuff I find most good (most good?) is on the internet and reccomended by friends. some soloists you hear on radio 1 are genuinely talented just like some promoted by sites such as alernativemusic.com suck out.

I don't know what I was thinking, I'm sorry, consider almost everything retracted

So yer, onto matters of fun

Cath, blog much?
David, we forgive you. We also expect a full description of oxford monday.

In other news. If somebody is being anti-Semitic in your politics class and doesn't realise it's wrong because of their upbringing should you be upfront and personal and tell her she is wrong and has no right to say such things or should you water it down with phrases like 'I understand where you're coming from but...'? There are so many times I just want to turn around and tell her how I feel but I don't want to start a fight, I just think it doesn't have to be just jews that are offended by phrases like 'dirty jews'.
Also on topic, did you know Sainsburys now have to label their meat as being farmed in palestine or israel respectively? So now every time someone does their groceries their (even if they want peace) it's time to weigh up the arguments and side with either side of a war. Alternatively, I guess you could just buy British meat. This war's nothing new anyway, it's just now the supermarkets are involved.

Wow, I can get really boring.

I was supposed to be going out tonight to the savoy but with a uni rejection and what seems to be growing lurgee I might just read my book.

Polly and the kettles were pretty darn impressive last night as was the choir concert.

I'm proper tired and thom's kind of sending me to sleep right now.

I broke my phone and now have a pink theme

Christmas has begun

Where The Wild Things Are was good but only if you've read the book

New pictures on my wall include: bill & ted, ghandi and the shins

Went on a massive walk the other day to listen to my ipod and ended up in malbrough chatting to a bunch of pub golfers. then it got dark and cold and I had to call for Dad.

I've been offered a job at the goddard Arms and I think if I can get them to wait a few weeks for me to train someone new at Earles and quit I might just take them up

Other than that... no.
That's me done.

So long, internet - i'll see you christmas eve.

Little Drummer Tuesday.

^^ Tom that was damn beautiful.

We can forgive David for Oxford reasons.

Aaaaand Josh - my reply to you:
No you can like ALL music, but you can at least appreciate ALL genres. To say I like Britpop, David likes politcal ballads etc... is a complete simplification of our musical tastes - and yours. Yes you're in a new age folk phase but you listen to fuck loads of music around that. (And to be fair... Britpop? Sure I have a soft spot but if you look at statistics and such I only own music by five Britpop artists - and that's only if you stretch the definiton to include The Divine Comedy and Placebo.)

And the whole mainstream / alternative divide has nothing to do with the media. What's mainstream is just what's favoured by the majority, and there's nothing wrong with that. You may not always agree, but you can't write it all off. If you take Radio 1 presumably the most 'mainstream' radio station, and then listen to the complete range of what they play - it may not be the tiny tiny alternative hidden bands you like but they do encompass pretty much all genres. The reason more alternative bands aren't on there is because they're not famous / popular enough.

Who's pushing you to be like anyone else?

I used to be a snob and pretty much reject anything in the charts but what does it fucking matter? I hate Lady Gaga but some of her music's alright.
For me, my main problem with music at the moment is all the reality bollocks, and really just manufactured bands. Anyone can be a success if they have an entire fleet of song-writers, producers, publiscists, stylists whatever. It just cheapens the entire thing. If you're gonna make it in the music business you should at least write your own songs.

Now, down to business.
Cambridge.

Went alright. Did balls up some form aaages ago meaning despite wanting to specialise in Genetics / Biology I got a Physics and a Chemistry interview.
Started with a pastoral interview which was good. Talked about Cystic Fibrosis / Stem Cells / GM Crops then about my interests I'd mentioned on my CV so Transgressive Fiction / Freida Kahlo / (last film I'd watched) Paranormal Activity.
S'all good.

Then my actual subject interviews which I'm not supposed to post the contents of online. With the physics people I did Maths, and with the Chemistry people I did Biochem and normal Chemistry.

I think I did kinda average. I got to all the answers they were after, but I don't supposed I dazzled them at all.
So hopefully in a slow year I might have a chance. Though I'm up against 54 other Natural Science applicants in Selwyn, and the number they accept changes each year.

Selwyn itself is abosolutely fuuuuucking gorgeous.
So pretty!

And not listening to any music right now... I'm rushing this before college as I've got work afterwards so this is my only time.

COLLEGE IS TERRIBLE

Seriously guys, I need christmas right now.

Usually, I try not to let it bother me but at the moment I'm really down about it all - I don't think it would be so bad if it wasn't for retakes.

You know how people are all like 'yer, I listen to anything'?
That's just stupid!
You don't, if a song comes on on shuffle you don't want to listen to you will press next, if a song comes on on the radio you don't like, you will watch TV or better yet, go out. if somebody mentions a song you hate, you give them a dissaproving look. We all have our tastes - me I'm going through a new age folk phase, David likes political ballads, Juliet likes britpop, Cath likes the libertenes, Tom likes dubstep... yer (correct me if I'm wrong btw)

AND ANOTHER THING!

The music industry seems to have polarised us into mindless followers of either mainstream radio one type stuff or 'alternative' - a term which really has lost all meaning on me. It's like 'oh, I'm so individual man, I'm like my own person'
And I know, I know, I do it to. but that's just it. It's a trap.
People need to accept that we all have different music tastes and stop pushing for everybody to be just like them. you like Andrew Bird? The magnetic fields? joanna newsom? Do you really want them to be mainstream? Or should they just be our little secret?

I CANNOT BELIEVE MALCOM TUCKER GOT FIRED
I AM SO UNCONTROLLABLY UPSET
Every now and then I just remember and feel like crying, it really has put a downer on my week - but only two nights to go until we find out what happens (btw cath, I'll pay for the vodka)

not much else to say really, are we hanging out this new years?

what does everybody want for christmas? drinks, or...?

EDIT:

By the way, i'm really sorry about my shocking behaviour last Thursday, I shouldn't be allowed out.

MAD ABOUT WORK MAD ABOUT WORK MAD ABOUT WORK MAD ABOUT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

never see them calling juliet in, dicks

anyways,in recent days i ve become a bit of a recluse.. not very happy about this development. I honestly cannot think f my favorite album of the decade guys, mainly because i dont buy music mearly nick it of others so never really look at album titles......the libertines was my favorite album for a very long time. I realise this was last weeks question but i missed last week mainly because there is literally no time left in my life, a bad excuse i know.
Im in a bad mood...hope i dont shout at any customers or bitch at joel (not jo-el thats not a real name) again.
Anyway guys it was the pre-budget report today, just saying it cannae sucked like they di all the important things but they raised national insurance instead of income tax and generally just designed it as a massive 2 fingers to the torys, which im never normally against unless the person doing it should actually be spending their time running the country. Plus i noticed vince cables hands shake unconrolabley when he talks in the commons, this has infinatly increased my support for lib dems.
MALCOM TUCKER GOT FORCED TO RESIGN. I literally just started watching the thick of it and i was all like wow i love this show but without him they dont have a show just some people wearing trainers in an office. Its seriously dark he was almost like a real person with feelings in the last episode, just saying if he doesnt come back im probably gonna cry.
Also Kerry poited out on the politics trip that dave is in love with Sarah. Its true i sat on a coach full of sleeping people while that new JLS song about waiting up or something was playing and he stared listlessly at her, now i struggle not to weep every time i see him.
I've got lots of bruises on my side not really sure where they came from should i worry about this? WHo do you think is better at metaphors Charlie Brooker or Malcom Tucker?
What do you think i should put in my sandwich?
Fuckedy bye

acidentally signed in as josh it is actually me
